Exact money
Every amount is a whole number of cents. Each line is rounded once, and discount, tax and deposit are each rounded once. The server runs the same sums again before it records an approved total.
B-04About
QuoteKit is made by Agent Creative, a small web studio in Connecticut. This page is the whole story: why it exists, how it is built, and what it will not do.
B-04.1Why it exists
A contractor finishes a walk-through, says "I'll get you a number," and drives to the next job. The number goes out two days later as a photo of a handwritten page, or a text message with a total and no detail. The customer has nothing to say yes to.
Most quoting software answers that with a full business system: scheduling, invoicing, payments, crews, a monthly bill to match. If all you need is a clear estimate the customer can approve, that is a lot of software standing between you and the Send button.
QuoteKit is the smaller answer. Price the job, send it as a link, get a signed yes, and see where every quote stands. That is the whole product.
B-04.2How it is built
Every amount is a whole number of cents. Each line is rounded once, and discount, tax and deposit are each rounded once. The server runs the same sums again before it records an approved total.
The customer's page is built from a separate copy of the quote with costs, markup, profit and the activity log removed on the server. They are not hidden on the page. They are never sent.
The quoting tool calls no outside services. Fonts and the PDF library ship with it. Email goes out through the site's own mail, and payment for plans goes through Stripe.
QuoteKit is a WordPress plugin with this site as its theme. The site owner can change the email wording, default terms, quote numbering, currency symbol and billing set-up from the admin panel, without touching code.

B-04.4Who makes it
Agent Creative is a small studio that designs and builds websites and web tools. QuoteKit is one of its own products: designed, written and supported by the same people. If something is wrong or missing, the message you send goes to the people who can fix it.
