Privacy policy
What EdgeBoard stores about you, what it never collects, and how to ask for your data or have it deleted.
This policy covers the EdgeBoard website and tool, operated by Agent Creative, a web studio in Connecticut (“we”, “us”). It says what is stored, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written to be read.
What we store
- Your account. If you create one: your name, your email address and a password. The password is stored as a one-way hash by WordPress; nobody here can read it.
- Your saved preferences. The teams you follow and whether the daily digest is switched on.
- Your plan. Whether you are on Free or Pro, and when the plan started. If you pay, Stripe gives us a customer and subscription reference so we know the subscription is active. We never receive or store your card number.
- Messages you send. What you write in the contact form, with the name and email address you give, so that we can answer.
- Ordinary server logs. The web host records the address your request came from, the page asked for and the time, as web servers do. We use these to keep the site running and to stop abuse.
What we do not collect
You can use the board, the headline record and the ratings tables without an account, and then we store nothing about you beyond the server log.
EdgeBoard has no advertising, no tracking pixels and no analytics scripts from other companies. We do not build profiles and we do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.
The predictions themselves are about teams and games. They contain no personal information.
Cookies and browser storage
When you sign in, the site sets a session cookie so you stay signed in. That is the only cookie EdgeBoard itself needs. During checkout Stripe sets its own cookies on its own pages.
The tool keeps a few settings in your browser’s local storage, such as the league you looked at last. On the preview build of the site there is no server-side account at all: an account, a plan and followed teams created there live only in that browser and are gone when you clear its storage.
Outside services
- Stripe handles payment for Pro. Your card details go straight to Stripe under its own privacy policy.
- Email. Messages from the site, such as the daily digest and replies to the contact form, are sent through the web host’s mail service. Payment receipts come from Stripe.
- Game data. Schedules and scores are fetched by the server from the MLB Stats API, the NHL API and ESPN. On the preview build your browser asks those services directly for the latest games, which shows them your address the way any website visit would. No information about you is sent with those requests.
How long we keep it
Account details and saved preferences are kept while the account exists. Contact messages are kept for as long as they are needed to deal with the question, and deleted on request. Published predictions are kept permanently: that is what makes the record a record, and they contain nothing about you.
Your choices
You can switch the daily digest off at any time on the My teams screen, and stop following any team there. To see the data held on your account, to correct it, or to have the account and everything saved with it deleted, send a request through the Contact page from the email address on the account. We answer within 30 days.
Age
EdgeBoard is for adults. It is not directed at anyone under 21, and we do not knowingly keep accounts for anyone under 21. If you believe one exists, tell us through the Contact page and it will be removed.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is posted here with a new date. A change that affects what is stored about account holders is also announced by email before it takes effect.
